FIAは同じくF1撤退を表明した日本のタイヤメーカーであるブリヂストンとを比較、同社が2011年の開幕までほぼ18か月という猶予期間を設けたうえで撤退表明したのに対し、トヨタのそれは新たなコンコルド協定に調印した直後というもので、誠意がないと名指しで非難。 資金が掛かりすぎるという撤退理由についても、FIAはかねて自動車メーカーに対し警告してきたことであるとして、コスト削減に応じなかったメーカーの姿勢を非難している。

FIAのこうした強い姿勢から、すでにコンコルド協定に調印し2012年までの参戦を確約していたトヨタに対し、今後かなりのペナルティが科せられるのは避けられない状況だ。
